Project Lead the Way (PLTW) has announced its Distinguished Programs list for the 2025-26 school year, including nine HCS schools among those honored! PLTW empowers millions of students across the U.S. to unlock their potential by developing the in-demand, real-world knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in life beyond the classroom.
The HCS Summer Scholars program is a special experience that provides academic enrichment opportunities for gifted and talented students in grades 3-11.
Horry County Schools’ performance on the 2025 state report cards, based on overall ratings, shows that 38 out of 57 district schools were rated as Excellent or Good. Of those, 16 HCS schools were rated Excellent and 22 were rated Good, while 18 earned a score of Average.
HCS Scholars Academy High School is ranked #1 of all 1,309 schools in the state, earning a report card score of 99.7 out of 100!
Rise with Reading is a districtwide literacy challenge designed to motivate and celebrate reading among our 48,000 K-12 students. Through achievable goals, recognition, and engaging resources, we aim to build a community of readers and celebrate the joy of learning.
